Found the problem. On the MT blog configuration page, there is a config item for the URL of your website. This is not actually what they want - what they want is the URL of the blog you are configuring. Not exactly clear, especially since the example appears to be the URL of the root of a website.

There seems to be really ugly templates shipped with MT 2.5 - I’ll have to port my old web styles ASAP or I’ll be the laughing stock of ThoughtWorks.

This is my new development blog. I have a personal blog which I will migrate to this server soon (once I work out how to do it).
