Book: Bitter EJB

I had another conversation about EJBs last night and the colleague I was talking to recommended Bitter EJB as a book that takes away a lot of the pain of EJB.

I still don’t think we need them though :-)

Chris, Yesterday the tech department where I work had a “debate” on Java and .NET and one of the topics that came up was EJB’s. I haven’t done a whole lot of Java development but I’ve come to the conclusion that EJB’s are almost never needed. Would you agree? What are the circumstances when you believe they are necessary? Thanks for any insights!

Sorry Chris, I couldn’t find your email address on your site so had to post here (probably didn’t look hard enough). I came across your site after reading one of the plusnet forums regarding running MT on plusnet and have just discovered for myself that it’s impossible to run it from the www server. Did you ever find out a way to get round this problem as I’d much prefer to run it from my web account rather than my cgi one? If you’ve got the time could you drop me an email?
    cheers
